WE BUILD

PAPERBACKS

One thing that sets The Concentrium apart from other book designers is the fact that we’ve learned how to do this the hard way, through years and years of designing and publishing our own books and comics. Our team consists of both a designer and an author—this way we shepherd books that not only look great, but read great, too!

Of course, when we say 'paperback,' we mean any traditionally printed book. For the most part, the formatting process is the same for hard or softcovers, with only minor technical differences between them. Basically, we can create a design for any format that you choose.

Beyond an eye-catching and memorable cover, a well-designed book is all about
setting up the perfect reading experience, so that your words and story are given the presentation they deserve. Appropriate and legible fonts, margins that keep the text from falling into the gutter, and chapter pages which allow the proper pause before setting the reader off into the next stage of the story are only a few of the factors you need to consider when designing a book.

What, no hardcovers?

How does the design process work?

We'll start with a conversation to learn about your book, you as an author, as well
as what audience you're attempting to reach. This information is further expanded with research into similar publications to see what everyone else is doing, both the good and the bad.

Once a visual direction has been established, we'll lay the book out, adding a table of contents, page numbers, and any other embellishments that will make your book look professional, attractive, and most importantly, easy to read.

We'll send you a PDF proof to review. Once everything meets your approval, we'll prepare your file for printing.

Can you print my book?

Unfortunately, no. We're only designers, not printers. But we can help you find a printer to handle your job, and we'd be happy to help supervise the production if that’s what you prefer.

One option to consider would be a print-on-demand operation like CreateSpace. Since they're owned and operated by Amazon, you get instant worldwide placement in all their online stores.

Print-on-demand, or POD, means as soon as someone orders your book, the printer fires off a copy and ships it directly to them. The benefit is that you don't have to order 10,000 copies that might sit around in your garage until they're sold.

How much does a book design cost?
